I have to admit, I don’t like to write. It is a strange thing to say from someone who writes a blog! I do like teaching, discussing and collaborating. Developing content is necessary to provide my audience with back up materials and presentations. It also allows me to organize my thoughts as I tend to jump from one thought to the next when I get very excited about a topic. Writing also provides a way to build up a story which engages the audience from beginning to end. And finally, content is very important in the online world. As people use the Web more and more to find information, comparison shop. learn something new, read the news and just plain browse around, content, or rather valuable content, is what attracts an audience to your site and makes them sticky.
From a marketing point-of-view, valuable content as opposed to ads and sales pitches, is what your target consumers are looking for. We all want information that enables us to make good buying decisions. David Meerman Scott’s book “The New Rule of Marketing & PR” helps us understand how content can be used to reach buyers directly online via News Releases, Blogs and other social media tools. It all comes down to content. So like it or not, content is king!
